After the first two beers, I had low expectations for this one from Greek Noctua, especially since it was a Black IPA.
I have tried Black IPAs before, but even as someone who likes dark beers and IPAs, none of them really appealed to me. I was pleasantly surprised by this beer, having lowered my expectations. First of all, the head was much better than the first two beers. While I was curious about the taste, I can say that I really liked it after drinking it. However, the beer tasted more like an American Stout IPA with high alcohol, a rich body, and the bitterness of an IPA. The roasted malt flavors of a Black IPA should not be so strong. Therefore, even though the beer has a high International Bitterness Unit (IBU) value of 65, you do not feel that bitterness.
It is a strong beer in every aspect. Instead of just finishing it, I encountered a really nice beer, even if it was not the right style, and I would recommend it.
